✨ THE GOLDEN CROWN ✨

Well… at just 15 months old, our homebred Golden Boy has been given his crown. 👑

Today at Driffield Championship Show, under the highly respected judge Roberta Wright, Lustre was awarded his 3rd CC — his crowning ticket.

And with that, subject to Royal Kennel Club approval, our boy will now be known as:

Ch EblanaHalls Gold Fascinus JW

There are moments in this hobby that you dream about when you breed a litter, but never quite allow yourself to believe will actually happen.

This is one of those moments!

Lustre is everything we could have wished for from a homebred boy. He is an honest, beautifully constructed Wheaten who we believe exemplifies the breed standard, but importantly, he has never lost the essence of what makes this breed so very special. He has genuine terrier spirit, attitude and character, coupled with an incredibly warm, gentle and affectionate nature.

He is completely and utterly Lustre and we couldn’t be prouder of him.

His journey to this crown has been made even more special by the wonderful judges who have recognised him along the way.

His three CCs have come from three judges whose opinions we value enormously:

To have three such respected judges look at our young homebred boy and each feel that he was worthy of a CC is an honour we simply cannot put into words.

And his four RCCs have been every bit as important to his journey.

Carmel Clarke-O’Neil at Birmingham National,
Bob Blackley at Scottish Kennel Club,
Ken Bartlett at Bath, and
Mick Oxley at Border Union.

Those RCCs weren’t simply awards to us, they were important milestones in Lustre’s development and gave us encouragement, confidence and belief as we travelled this road with him. Each one helped shape the journey towards today, and we are genuinely grateful to every judge who saw something special in our boy and took the time to recognise it.

To have Roberta award Lustre his crowning CC today, recognising the qualities we have loved in him from the very beginning, is something we will never take for granted. We hoped that she might like him, having awarded his dam Síoda, EblanaHalls Honeytrap JW a RCC previously, and she did. We are so deeply grateful for her decision, for the confidence she has placed in our boy and for recognising what we believe makes him such a wonderful representative of our breed.

A third CC at just 15 months old is an incredible achievement for any dog, but for a homebred dog carrying the EblanaHalls name, it feels particularly poignant. There is an enormous amount of love, hope, work and belief behind this boy, and today felt like a very special validation of all of it.

And then came the moment I will probably remember most…

I was completely absorbed in Lustre and concentrating on my boy, so I hadn’t actually realised that he had won the ticket.

Then the cheer went up.

What a cheer!

It absolutely overwhelmed me. To hear that huge eruption of support around the ring, and to realise what everyone else had already understood, was incredibly emotional. I don’t think I will ever forget the sound of it.

Thank you — from the bottom of our hearts — to every single person who cheered, came over to congratulate us, hugged us, sent messages or simply shared our happiness today. The atmosphere was extraordinary, and your warmth made this achievement even more precious.

It was also incredibly special to have judges who have previously judged Lustre come over afterwards to congratulate us. Those gestures mean more than people perhaps realise. To have respected judges who have watched him at different stages of his young career, take the time to come over and share in this moment was genuinely touching.

So tonight, we will allow ourselves to take it all in, I think there will ge some bubbles involved too.

Our little homebred boy has grown into a Champion….at just 15 months old.

From the very first moment we looked at him, little Mr White, and wondered what he might become, to standing there today and hearing that cheer…

Our Golden Boy has his golden crown. 👑

And we couldn’t be more proud.
